Dear all, I'm a beginner in blogging, heard a lot about blogs, finally I decided to find out what the hell is going on in here, So from the lil bit of information i got from here and there from internet, I came to know that we could write journals or short stories or travel description or whatever topics that you want share, Senior Bloggers please excuse me as I'm a beginner, and Kindly give your valuable tips, thank you.
Hope who all are reading this might have noticed the Title "Living in a Desert" , as we all already heard or viewed what a desert looks like, loose sand, no water, extreme +ve temperature and the just the opposite in the night, yes these all were in my mind before I came to this place, Well I'm talking about Amel, its a very remote destination in the Sultanate of Oman, to be more specific its between Nimr & Marmul, this is in Salalah direction while travelling from musqat.
I'm working with one of the top EPC contractor in Oman, here we are trying to construct a Steam generation plant, the steam which is going to be produced here are going to be used in the winter season to reduce the density or thickness of the crude oils in the oil field here.
The water which is the main raw material used to make steam is collected from the water wells nearby, and there is a lot of process through which this water will go on to make it steam.
I think the above description is more than enough for you all to understand why the hell I'm here in a desert, yes its all about money honey.
So when I came here the first time, from our HQ I got the information that the place where I'm supposed to go is a desert, but I never thought that the place will be like this where there is a lot of operations going on, like Drilling for Oil wells, Live Oil Wells, Gathering stations, water treatment plants, power plants..etc.. a lot of operations are going on here and a lot of people are working here, so I thought here there will a small town or a city where there'll be basic necessities like banks, grocery shops, hotels, restaurants, and internet cafe's etc..etc...
And on a fine morning of May 2011, I headed to this place on a luxury bus, which is having service to these places and salalah, its 1400kms away from musqat,
for now I think its enough, for God sake its Friday my dear friends the one and only day which i get to take rest...let me get a tight sleep......a lot more is coming, till then bye
Adios amigos,
take care...
JK
